Backup software
Problems, experience, price and other attributes of backup software.
Excuse me if this isn't the correct location to post this topic.
I'm trying to eliminate a tidserv backdoor rootkit on XP. Norton 360 detects and alerts me that it blocked an attack from an outside computer. It says the backdoor trojan on on the Norton 360 backup. It appears 360 writes backups to a seperate partition. I opened it and there are two partitions, but I'm not sure it's safe to just frmat the partition or delete specific folder as part of the cleanup,
I drive I see is norton backup drive\backups on secure online storage\tigger
Do you have a lot of SMS messages, some of sentimental value? Do you need to backup your SMS from your phone to pc? I found third party software for Windows Mobile Phone to transfer SMS to your desktop computer. Here is the user’s guide (4 main Steps)
1. Download the third party software and Install it
2. Transfer the SMS from your mobile to PC
3. Manager your SMS on your desktop computer
4. Restore SMS from pc to mobile
I’ve got a bunch of large files (5 GB +), as well as some standard word/excel documents that I need to keep safe. I think online backup or online storage is the best solution because it can be relatively inexpensive (or free), and it’s usually easy to use. I want something that will backup automatically, or with little effort. And I want to be able to easily access my files if needed. I would like some suggestions on where I should go? What companies are good?
I did a backup to the second drive of the computer.
I wiped the first hard drive and reinstalled all the programs including norton 360, but it wont let me restore the back up from the second drive. It will only let me restore form online or a cd or dvd. Since I cannot recover my files any other way at this point, how can I access the backup on the second drive.
I have tons of data on my computer, and I am going to be switching over to an entirely new system. I am really worried about losing everything I have, such as accounting files and sensitive client information, if things don’t go as planned.
