ACRONIS2009
I have just purchased ACRONIS 2009 backup program and would be grateful for some advice on how to proceed as I am a novice and wish to back up just files etc . I am moving to a new computer but do not wish to tranfer the Windows system which is XP sp3 or any Programs as I am having a lot of trouble with either the Registry, Drivers or software and therefore need to start afresh I have an external E disc WD My Book. Thank you

Acronis True Image Home 2009
Hi Elizabeth. For this case I recommend these two steps:
Option A: Run the True Image, click the Backup & Restore on the left and continue with Data backup button. You will be prompted with a Windows, where you can select the folder you would like to backup. So you don't have to backup a complete disc partition including the Windows system folder.
Option B: Do a whole backup of the partition and then in the new system after the True Image installation double click the backup. It will act as a virtual drive and you will be able to copy out the files from the backup to the computer.
